Children
Neurodevelopment
We’re focused on helping all children unlock their potential by improving brain function
HOW WE CAN HELP YOU
Our team of experienced healthcare practitioners from the behavioural, physical, emotional, nutritional and neuro-development fields, work together to provide your child an integrated approach to improving their learning, social engagement, physical development, academic performance, and communication skills.
We provide tailored solution-based care for your child, and often recommend intensive programs over a short period to maximise neuroplasticity and harness the potential within a child’s brain.

TECHNOLOGY & TECHNIQUES
Brain Hub is an innovative clinic, adopting new technologies and clinical applications to assess and manage children of all aches, with a range of health challenges. We objective measurements of brain function, including: brain mapping (qEEG), heart rate variability (HRV), video nystagmography (VNG – eye movements), vestibular testing (vHIT), balance (computerised posturography), neurocognitive, autonomic and tilt table testing, spinal control, Interactive Metronome, vagal nerve stimulation, movement patterns, primitive reflexes, amongst many others.
The use of laboratory-grade technology allows us to accurately measure aspects of your child’s brain function, so we can obtain a baseline and road-map for our next steps. Objective comparisons to baseline results are made at review assessments, so we can compare your child’s progress and ensure we’re on track.
COMMON CONDITIONS WE CARE FOR
We ‘re fortunate to have helped many children and their families to both identify and manage complex conditions (and their symptoms), including:
- Concussion and Head Injuries
- ADD/ADHD
- Autism (all levels)
- Aspergers
- Sensory Processing Disorder
- Global Development Delay
- Auditory Processing
- Scoliosis
- Poor Coordination
- Oppositional
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Speech Delays (Aphasia)
- Dyslexia
- Tourette’s and Tic
- Cerebral Palsy
THE PROCESS TO YOUR SOLUTION

Observational and objective assessment performed to understand concerns and identify underlying causes.

We take the time to explain what we’ve found, what it means to your child, the impact its having and discuss the best options to help their recovery.

Our individualised programs (with intensive during school holidays) are provided by our team of mental health, physical therapy, neuro-rehabilitation and nutritional practitioners.

Frequently performed to objectively evaluated how your child is progressing and if the care program needs to be refined.

Support given following intensive programs, at-home program (telehealth) and in-clinic maintenance.
THE BRAIN HUB ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS
We have specialised assessment and therapy equipment to evaluate paediatric brain function and provide tailored neuro-rehabilitation. Therapy starts with supporting and building strong foundations in eye movement, primitive reflexes, nutrition, balance and coordination.

COGNITIVE
Computerised screening for memory, attention and problem-solving, audio-motor integration with interactive metronome, brain mapping with quantitative electro-encephalogram (qEEG)

primitive reflexes
Retained (neo-natal) primitive and postural reflexes

OCULAR MOTOR
Eye position and movement with video-nystagmography (VNG)

VESTIBULAR
Central and peripheral vestibular system with video head-impulse testing, subjective visual vertical, eye-movement and positional testing

AUTONOMIC
The autonomic nervous system evaluated by heart rate variability, vitals, tilt-table, pupillometry, and treadmill stress

learning
Observation of learning styles

PROPRIOCEPTIVE
Spinal, joint and muscle movement and control with coordination, computerised balance and body-awareness

SLEEP ANALYSIS
Using actigraphy we measure sleep quality, temperature and light exposure

NUTRITION
Metabolic and cellular health with functional medicine and genetic testing

CASE STUDIES
FAQs
General
Whilst we can not guarantee success in every case, we do maximise our chances of helping your child by providing care that is specifically designed for them. We approach every new patient the same – we start with a comprehensive examination, listening to you carefully and understanding your goals, explain in plain english our findings and recommend an individualised treatment plan specifically for your child (based on over 20 years of experience).
Our team’s goal is improve your child assessment findings, so in turn it can improve their quality of life
While most patients are kindly referred to our practice from allied and medical practitioners, a referral is not needed to see us. Simply call our clinic and speak to our receptionist, or click our Get Started button to schedule a complimentary 15 minutes phone call to see how we can help your child
We offer a unique blend of clinical experience, research-driven therapies, high-technology assessment and therapy equipment, and a passionate team of practitioners willing to work together, all within a healing setting.
Over the years, approximately 50% of our patients are from areas outside of Sydney, including interstate and international. Our treatment programs are perfectly suited to those travelling long distance to see us.
Currently we see many children that use NDIS (self, planned and agency managed options) for our Occupational Therapy services. We can provide supporting reports required to to use this funding.
Post-Concussion
Typically we suggest as soon as possible. We will be able to offer support at any stage following a head injury, whether it be advice, therapy or referral for medical or emergency care.
There is good evidence to support obtaining a baseline function evaluation before a season starts, so if a concussion were to occur, we have a comparison to make and work towards returning to.
We can split the assessment in 2 parts, with a break in between so they can recharge. The break can be 1 hour to several days. We will discuss with you what is the most appropriate.
Brain fog is often a sign that your brain is running ‘in-efficiently’ and spending a lot of energy trying to functional and battling the injury. Once we help with the underlying dysfunction, coupled with nutritional and life-style support, we find that people report less brain fog
Autism, ADHD and other Neuro-behavioural/development conditions
No, only a Paeditrician can provide an official diagnosis. We may identify traits that are consistent with Autism and similar conditions, and make the recommendation to seek medical advice for verification. We are however well placed to offer help in managing or overcoming symptoms, including behaviour, attention, independence, coordination and others.
Our centre is set up to assist children with all levels of Autism. It’s best to contact us so we can discuss this more specifically to your child’s needs.
We see many children with poor focus and unable to sit still for any length of time. Our experienced staff will use various techniques and skills to perform a suitable exam so we can better understand your child’s concerns.
Most children we see aren’t too keen on home-based therapy, although we make it play/fun-based and show you (as parents/guardian) how to do the same. Our neuro-development programs overcome some of this by providing an intensive program in the clinic. We often see changes occur quite quickly when we offer this.
Migraine
Absolutely. We have designed a clinic with you and other environmental sensitive people in mind. We also have a ‘recovery room’ to rest peacefully in between your treatment sessions, away from the main reception area.
Dysautonomia
We have had good success with POTS and similar dysautonomia conditions), provided the cardiovascular system has been checked and cleared by a Cardiologist. Our brain-based and metabolic approach, looks at nutritional, physical and rehabilitation therapies to help stabilise and support the autonomic nervous system.
We use the gold-standard and recognised test to help identify dysautonomia including, heart rate variability, tilt-table test, history taking, response to treatment, treadmill exertion test and assessment of vitals in different positions. A referral for medical evaluation may be made to rule out underlying cardiovascular conditions.
Neuro-Development Programs
Rather than scheduling 1-3 standard treatment sessions over an extended period of time (say 4-8 weeks), we offer patients (especially those travelling from outside of Sydney) the opportunity to condense your treatment into a short period of time, ranging from several days to 2 weeks (typically 1 week). We see many children for intensive programs during the school holidays. After we perform our initial assessment and the report of findings appointment, we then prescribe 3-4 treatment sessions per day, approximately 30-50 minutes each, over each day of the program. A break is provided in between each session, where you can either go for a walk, have a meal, or rest in our recovery room
Our experience and the feedback from patients over the last 10 years has clearly pointed to greater benefits when patients undertake our intensive programs. Our thoughts suggest that when a patient (and their family) commit to the therapy program for many hours a day, for a short period of time (compared to spreading it over a 4-8 week period), their intention and focus is aimed at improving.
Generally, our programs are very well tolerated, even those with significant fatigue and environmental sensitivities. Once we perform our assessment, we apply a graded and progressive amount of treatment, matched to your capacity. We’re always observing and evaluating your response to care and ensuring we don’t over step your tolerance.
